Students will create a movie poster on Canva.com that highlights the symbolism, theme, and characters present in Lamb to the Slaughter. Project details can be found in the “Project” section of your OneNote Notebook under “Lamb to the Slaughter Movie Poster Project – Due 8/31”.
Description of Project, Important Links, and Exemplar
Part I- Movie Poster (20 points): Using Canva.com, create a movie poster for Lamb to the Slaughter. Using visual images and text, demonstrate the following features of the story in your poster. Feel free to get creative in how you achieved this!
When you’re done, make sure your final project is added to your OneNote notebook!
Part II – Explanation (10 points): Using details from your poster, write a brief explanation of how your poster aligns with details from the text. Tell us how your project shows the story’s mood, theme, symbols, and plot. Provide at least 7 sentences that explain your choices.
Students will participate in a Kahoot! Challenge in order review the basic parts of speech.
Students will take a brief assessment that asks them to apply their knowledge of parts of speech.
Students will take their Scholastic Reading Inventory in order to evaluate their Lexile Scores.
3 entries are due by the end of this week!
Students will progress through a brief asynchronous lesson and complete a comprehension check. Comprehension check can be found in your OneNote Notebook under “Grammar Modules”.

Students will need access to their Microsoft OneNote Notebook in order to access the story, read along, complete guiding questions, and prepare to write their short story. This material can be found in the “Class Notes” section of your Microsoft OneNote Notebook.
Writing Prompt: ‘After reading the short story “First Day”, use details from your first day of high school to write a story about your experiences. Use details that highlight your thoughts, emotions, and senses during this experience.’
Completed Short Stories are due by 8/20! Please upload your finished project to your student folder on CTLS!
